How I came to be...
I was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on May 7, 1998 at 2:36 in the afternoon, I was seven pounds six ounces and from what the doctor said, I was the perfect baby.
My mother and older brother and sister expressed to me that when I was born I looked exactly like a porcelain doll. The nurses, doctors, and other patients came in to see the "porcelain doll baby,"
Growing up my mother called me mun-chee-chee and punky. The name varied depending on the situation and person.
The life of Christine Dingman-
There is not one word in the English dictionary that can completely and accurately describe my mom. I truly believe that what my mom had to go through as a child is what shaped her today. She went many years without her father in her life, all thanks to alcohol and she also lost her mother at a young age. Although, she went through hard times of losing her mom, the undedicated effort from her father, and the undertaking challenge of becoming an adult, she rose from those obstacles and is now an independent, hard working, inspiring business owner, co-worker, friend, soulmate, and mother. My mother and I are very much a like. Not only in the physical feature aspect, but she has experienced certain things that I am experiencing now. One example is that she never had her father in her life due to alcohol until years later. My father was at the bar the night I was born and from that point on alcohol, his wife, and two kids have consumed his life. I've accepted my father not being that "dad" figure in my life, but as anyone can expect I still hope, wish, pray, and miss him very much.
Five Kids Total-
My sister Janelle was the first born of the 5 of us, on March 11. She currently is 24 years old. Exactly, one year, one month, and one day follows my brother, Anthony who was born on April 12, who is now 23 years old. Than six years later I came into this world on May 7. 10 years later my mom surprised us all by giving birth to my little sister, Bella on June 17. Who is now seven years old. However, an even bigger surprise struck us all when my mom gave birth to my little brother, Jake on April 8, nine months later. Jake is now 6 years old. For exactly two months in the year, Bella and Jake are the same age. In other words, they are Irish twins. I like to think of myself as my own island in my family considering my older brother and sister are very close in age, as are my little brother and sister. Furthermore, all of my siblings, no matter what age, all have great personalities. When all five of us are together it is truly the best feeling ever, because we all get each other. I will admit there are perks to being the middle child. There are no better people and honest people in this world than my siblings and I am so thankful for every single moment I have with them.
Pivotal Moments
There is a whole bunch of moments that have impacted my life greatly some are bigger than others of course, but I'm going to share the top two with you.
When I was just a baby my father kidnapped me from my mother for two months. With only being one years old, I don't particularly remember this happening, however for my mom it was the longest and hardest two months of her life. My mom told me that after the two months of me being gone it took me hours to finally remember who my mom was when she got me back. As you can imagine the feelings we were both having during this time and the anger my mom had towards my dad, it has shaped each of our relationships to this day. I don't talk to my dad very much, he doesn't talk to me, and I haven't seen him in years. It has really impacted me not having my dad in my life, I consistently have questions for him, I feel jealous from time to time, and I have my good and bad days.
Although my dad has not been the best parent to me, my mom has and will forever be the most special person in my life. Since the day she got me back she has been my life. I always tell people that she is two in one, she my amazing mother and strong father. She is my partner in crime, she my right hand man, she's half of my brain, and she has my heart. I am who I am today, because of my mom. Without her and without my dad making bad decisions I would not be the same person, I wouldn't be where I am today, and I would not have the relationship I have with my mother if he didn't do what he did.
You may have noticed that I am a cheerleader and cheer has also shaped with who I am today. Manly, because I have done cheer since I was 12. I am a coach and participant of an All Star Cheer leading Organization called GVA (Glenwood Valley Athletics). My mother, Christine Dingman, is the business owner and head coach. Thanks to her I have had amazing opportunities and made amazing memories the past years. Just this year, I have attended five national cheer competitions in Denver, Colorado. I will be going to Dallas, Texas for Nationals, along with traveling to either Virginia Beach or Tampa Bay, Florida for a world wide national competition called 'The Summit."
I have also been honored to attend the Walt Disney World's Christmas Extravaganza Parade televised Christmas morning for two years now.
Not only do I get to go to all these amazing places, I get to go with amazing people too. Every single person on my team, participate or coach are my family. My cheer family are inseparable, we can do absolutely anything we put our mind too. Without my GVA family I would not be the same humorous, outgoing, fun, and spunky person I am today.
It's the Little Things
Truly it is all the little things that make me happy. As far as food goes, white cheddar popcorn makes me happy. Along with, lindor chocolates, carrot cake, and pretty much anything Italian, Now in life, working honestly makes me happy. I love the feeling of being useful, the feeling of accomplishment, and of course the paycheck always puts a smile on my face. The personal things that make me happy are a never ending list. I love my family (every single one of them), I love my mom, my puppy, my bed, dancing, cheering, obviously hanging out with friends, Starbucks, my boyfriend, and I absolutely love love. It is a small four letter word with such big power to it's name and experiencing it is one of the best feelings I could ask for.
I told you it was the little things that made me happy and trust me that was only a portion of it. The list goes on and on..
Sensitivity
Sadly, the feeling of being sad will always hit me like a truck. Some of the things that make me more sad than other things is when my mom is in pain (mentally or physically), when I miss my siblings, when I feel left out, because I don't have my real dad in my life. I feel sad when I feel alone, when I feel defeated, and when things don't particularly go my way.
Sadness is something that could turn out to be a positive or negative outcome, I know that I have the power of that.
Strengths, Talents, and Gifts
Personally I feel that I am just an all around person. I have good communication and customer service skills, strong leadership skills along with being attentive to a supervisor. I am a great listener, I carry the skill of working out conflicts comley. I also work well with children of all ages, strong coaching abilities, very organized, physically fit to overcome any challenge, I am outgoing, determined, and I have huge dreams for myself.
I'm working on it
One word... Procrastination. This has been a life long problem for me ever since I knew what it meant. When I was little I found humor from procrastinating as my mom expressed frustration when I wouldn't go to bed at night. However, as I have gotten older it came to my attention that procrastination is not something I should find humorous. Procrastinating as much as I did in the past has affected my future, but it is all a learning process. I have definitely learned from my troubling procrastinating habits and I promised myself that I will never that it get that bad again.
Without years and years of procrastination I know that I would not be the same person or where I am today. It has been a rough roller coaster dealing with procrastination, but I have learned and experienced what kind of power it has and I won't let it happen anymore.
Unfortunately, procrastination will always haunt me no matter how big or small the situation is, but I can proudly say that I am getting better at not procrastinating.
Christianity
Church and Christianity was never a main priority growing up, until the summer of 2012, when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
Christianity was never something that I knew a lot about and still do this day I have continuous question about it. Even though I am a Christian, I have never read the bible, I don't go to church every Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday evening. However, I know what I believe and why I believe it. I believe that God can and will do wonders in ones life if you let him in to do so.
"I can do all things through him who gives me strength."
- Philippians 4:13
Being beautiful
Beauty is everywhere and everything. Beauty can be someones smile or it could be how the sun reflects on our Colorado mountains. Our world is based on beauty as it seems there are competitions to whom has better makeup or the cuter hair style. Beauty it a word that has so much power and different perspectives on what it actually means.
To me, beauty on a person is when they have peace and happiness within themselves. Yes, the makeup, the clothes, the hair, the shoes, the purses all can make someone look beautiful, however, true beauty is from within. A beautiful soul means a beautiful person inside and out.
Look out your window... do you see what is around you? Do you see it? Yeah, all that you see if the simplest form of beauty that speaks volumes without words. It's picture perfect. God has created a world full of beauty in a number amount of ways... You just have to have the heart and mind to notice it and appreciate it.
Having people there for you
Friends for some people are a huge priority in their life. I'm going to be honest most of my friends are my family members. Some people say that that doesn't count, because they are my family, but they are the only ones who have stayed truly loyal to me my whole life. My best friend is by far my mother, she has been through everything with me, she gives advice when needed, and so on.. My sister and brother are also my best friends along with my boyfriend.
I have friends outside of my family, but they come and go. My family will always and forever be my number one friends in every way.
Home Sweet Home
To me home is where I can pretty much do what ever I want, when ever I want. Home isn't just a place where I can be myself, but I feel safe there, I feel loved there, and I feel comfortable there. When I leave for a certain amount of time I start to miss my house, I miss my own bed especially. The feeling I get when I walk through the door after a long day or a long or short vacation I always think to myself, "There's no place like home," because there isn't.
To me it's a feeling you just can't get anywhere else.
1, 2, 3
Responsibility, Love, and Willingness are my three qualities of being a good parent..
My future Happiness
Just like anyone in the world, more specifically a teenager, I have plenty of short term goals. Plenty. However, I know that in some way all of my short term goals will get me to reach my long term goal in the future.
My long term goal is to get my masters degree in Business to become one of the most prestigious event coordinators I can be.
I need to focus on graduating high school right now. Which I will by the way. So, that means I have to finish my senior project, ePortfolio, college scholarships, ACTs, 30 hours of service learning, and obviously making sure I have all 24 of my credit done. Then after I accomplish that I will be focusing on college 100% to consistently keep my eye on my goal.
Am I successful?
Everybody has their own opinion on what success is. To me, success is one of those words that has so much power for one word. Some people have to have that feeling of being successful in their life, some won't execpt anything but success, and some think success is "pointless." It just depends on your perspective I guess.
However, I have figured out that in order to be successful you have to tumble and fall hard over and over again. Falling is how I learned my lessons and how I have grown from those mistakes. To me that is success.. I will continue to fall, I will continue to get up, I will continue to learn, and I will continue to be successful in what ever I do, because I don't get discouraged, I get up and as long as I have my eye on my goal I will get there successfully.
